The Greypevine: Season 2, Episode 4

The Greypevine brings us another packed episode of fun and enjoyment! Hold on tight, because this episode is LOADED with awesome content!

  • Did You Know- An excellent collection of VERY interesting facts. Have you ever wondered how many gallons of fuel it takes to launch a shuttle, or what the lowest recorded temperature is? Well, you’ll find this, and much more in this episode’s Did You Know.
  • Daredevil’s Corner- Who doesn’t love eating a good, tasty earthworm flavored jelly bean? Listen as David and Blake take on Todd’s dare to play an awesome game called “Bertie Botts Roundabout.” It might even make you want to go out and get a box for yourself!
  • Email and Blog- Thanks for all your great feedback. Check it out to see if your comment or email gets read on this episode’s Email and Blog.
  • Our Perspective- A NEW segment! Listen as Carrie, Kara, and some special guests talk about an extremely interesting news article. They give their perspective about the article, and you can read more about the story by clicking here.
  • The Riddlers- Another NEW segment! Want to hear two funny jokes? Want to try to solve a riddle from a very special guest? Give a listen and send us your guesses to the riddle.
  • Any Way You Want It- We’ll be discussing Webkinz and how to make some delicious chocolate chip cookies! Once you listen, we’re sure you’re going to want to go out and get a Webkinz and make some cookies! Here’s the recipe we promised you:
    • Mix 1 cup of shortening, 1 cup sugar, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 2 eggs, and 2 teaspoons of vanilla in a bowl. In a separate bowl, mix 2 cups flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Slowly mix the dry ingredients into the first bowl. Once mixed, add 1 regular bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips. Bake for 10 minutes at 375. Baking time may vary depending on personal cookie gooeyness preference. Remember, kids should always have their parents do the work with the oven!

Memphis ISD’s Whirlwind News: The Amazing Andrew Jackson

This is great group of eighth graders are giving us a clear look into the important life of President Andrew Jackson. They do a fantastic job of explaining some really intriguing details of an influential person in our nation’s history. More nearly than any of his predecessors, Andrew Jackson was elected by popular vote; as President he sought to act as the direct representative of the common man.

This highlight of the life of President Andrew Jackson was written and recorded by 8th grade students as part of a research assignment. All music used came from Freeplaymusic.com.

This is the second in the U S Presidents podcast assignment. We hope you enjoy listening as much as the students enjoyed creating this podcast.

MemphisISD’s Whirlwind News: The Life of President Monroe

Kid-Cast.com wants to welcome a new group to our Podcasting Network: The Memphis ISD 8th graders! Their great new ‘cast is called “Whirlwind News!” Join us in welcoming them to our network of fine Podcasters! The staff of Memphis High School believes that each student has the need, the desire and ability to learn, and they believe that learning will occur when a student feels happy, safe, self-confident and successful.

These guys give us an in depth review of influential people from our nation’s history, they start out with President James Monroe by detailing his life for us. Listen in and learn something great about our forefathers!
This is an overview of the life of President Monroe. The script was written and recorded by 8th grade students in Texas as part of a research assignment.

HatTech VODCAST: Special Video Edition of the HatTech ‘cast!

HatTech comes back with a great new Video Podcast! Check out the details of this wonderful addition to an already informative ‘cast from this awesome school!

The Herrera Community News is a daily live broadcast run by 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. This is their first vidcast from the HCN studio. They will highlight special events and guests throughout the year.
On March 5th, 2007, they had a very special guest: Councilman Adrian Garcia. Their news anchor, Mariah — who is in 4th grade — conducted the interview. Mr.Garcia spoke on the live broadcast about the future of city-wide Wi-Fi in Houston, TX.
