I know it’s been a while since I’ve written a blog article, but this one was definitely worth writing.
Just a couple of days ago, TeacherBytes — a website that talks about cool stuff for teachers wanting to use technology in the classroom — in a podcast talked about how Kid-Cast.com was a great place to upload your Podcast and know they’re safe for everyone to hear!
The site is run by John Woodring. John Woodring is a Technology Integrationist and Web Media Productions Instructor at H.E. McCracken Middle School in Bluffton, South Carolina. Before his current adventure he was a Social Studies teacher at Bluffton High School, Hilton Head Island High School, and the Academies for Career Excellence. John has a Bachelors Degree in History from the University of South Carolina - Upstate and a Masters Degree in Education from Converse College. Besides blogging, John has done both podcasting and video blogging. You may contact John at teacherbytes@gmail.com.
You can listen to his podcast from April 1st 2008, by clicking here. You can also check out some great resources for Podcasting in the Classroom (where John also contributed) at TeacherBytes BCSD Podcast, where you can read lots of great nuances to podcasting as well as watch a few videos!
I can’t thank John Woodring enough for mentioning us in his podcast!
Enjoy, and Happy Spring, Kid-Casters!

We have to admit, we love hearing your voices. Not only are your podcasts great topics, but the sound of your voices just makes them that much better! Your unique voices make Kid-Cast.COM the fun site that it is!
This time, we want you to really put your voices into it and help us out a little. We’re looking for a talented class, or a group of kids, to help us create a signature Kid-Cast.COM introduction theme. We want to use this theme in front of all of the podcasts so that everyone can know about Kid-Cast.COM.
We want you to be creative! Do something unique with the words "Kid-Cast.COM" and help us come up with something fun and everyone can hear your voices! You can get 50 of your closest friends and yell out "Kid-Cast.COM!" or you can sing a little tune with the Kid-Cast.COM tagline: "A podcast FOR kids, and BY kids!"
So, get permission from your teachers, parents, or guardians, and upload your ideas! We can’t wait to hear them!
Good luck with your ideas!

Kid-cast.com would love to have some parents, kids, teachers, or anyone willing to participate, read some stories, books or even a quick couple of poems during the summer months.
We’re looking to your talents to get us some interesting stuff to ‘cast during the summer months. There’s lots of great podcasting to do, but we think some fun excerpts of favorite topics or books might be great, too. Maybe you can tell us about your favorite book series, or what games you like to play during the summer months. How about some tips on how to surf or boogie-board? Maybe you have some terrific places you like to ride your bike or fun educational places to visit. Tell us all of your great summer fun ideas!
We can’t wait to hear from you!
To get started, make sure you sign-up on our site so you can post your ‘cast for review and we’ll be happy to post it (so long as it meets our criteria).
Have a great summer and help us keep Kid-Cast.COM just as active as you, all summer long!

Welcome to Kid-Cast.com’s first airing of The Greypevine! The Greypevine is a fifth grade class from Illinois, and they’re working hard to create regularly delivered podcasts that will inform and entertain anyone who would like to listen. They’d love to hear any questions or comments you have that might help them to produce a better ‘cast. This podcast is fun and entertaining, as well as very well produced! Kid-Cast.com loved the Daredevil Corner as well as all of other very informative and hysterical sections from this very talented bunch!
This is The Greypevine’s longest episode yet, and their first on the Kid-Cast Network. We, and they, think that’s a GOOD thing!
In this EXCITING episode:
- Did You Know - Buckle up, because this is by far the greatest number of amazing facts we’ve ever done in one segment. They come at you fast, but they are incredibly interesting!
- Check It Out - Another guest appearance, and a surprising/shocking ending that will have everyone talking.
- Updates - All kinds of special guests on this one along with all kinds of great updates. We also share a new idea that we’ll need your help with, so make sure you pay close attention!
- Any Way You Want It - A NEW segment! We’re excited about this one, and yes, your #1 request is finally fulfilled right from the start.
- Email and Blog- We’ve been getting some AWESOME feedback lately. We talk about some of our emails and blog comments, and of course, watch out for those flying rodents!
- Daredevil’s Corner - Another NEW segment! This one is just flat out amazing. We promise you won’t be disappointed, and you might just find yourself feeling a bit patriotic when it’s all said and done. Thanks to Mrs. Dowdy’s class for the excellent dare.
Our new segments rely on your feedback, so give us your ideas either on our blog or in an email! Enjoy the show! Check out The Greypevine blog for even more stuff!

If you are like most families, Disney World is a great place to visit. If you go, you go back, again, and again… Your Kid-cast.com kids are no different. One of these great kids named “PJ” loves to go to Disney - he’s got a trip planned in the next couple of months. Until then, he’ll have to keep himself remembering and busy with Disney’s Virtual Magic Kingdom (VMK).
VMK is one of those great, kid-safe, sites where kids can travel around a digital playground version of Disney’s Magic Kingdom. You’ll recognize all kinds of things right out of the parks after you create your login. It’s really easy to do, and you’ll be up and running around the park in no time! You’ll get treated to those favorite places, like Big Thunder Mountain, and The Jungle Cruise. But, that’s not all you’ll see. You’ll get to play games, solve puzzles, and take challenges that will make you feel like you’re right there in the park!
The nice part, for parents, is knowing that your kids can be left alone with this site without too much supervision (though, we at kid-cast.com always recommend sitting with your kids and enjoying the fun and monitoring their online behavior), because even though this site is a simulator with characters (other members) walking around and chatting, Disney has created a special chat engine that only allows “Disney Words” to be used. Kids won’t be able to disclose information about their names, addresses, or phone numbers. So, you can feel safe that predators won’t be getting in the way of your child’s fun.
So, check out this really fun site and remember your Disney Vacation!
