The Kid-Cast.com About
Kid-Cast.com is a site dedicated to helping kids get their message out to the world. Our goals aren't to tell kids how or what they should Podcast, but to give them a place to do it. It's a place we want adults (parents, guardians, and teachers) to know is a safe place for their kids to spend time creating their Podcasts to have them posted. We're serious about kid's and your safety, so we take as many precautions as we can to make this a healthy place for kid's material to be posted.
We don't want to rule the world of podcasting, we want the kids to do it!
Kid-Cast.Com Podcast/Vodcast Rating System
One of the ways we plan to help determine if a podcast is right for you is by instating our own Podcast rating system. We use a rating system that's similar to the ESRB ratings found on video gaming systems. Our thought is that this is a simple to understand and widely recognized style of rating. Here is our simple breakdown of ratings (be sure to check back often as we may add further distinctions as things change).
- E - Everyone
- E10+ - Everyone 10 and Over
- T - Teens (age 13 minimum)
- T16+ - Teens 16 and Over
Each Upload Gets Reviewed
At Kid-cast.com, we review each podcast before posting it, and try to make sure it's appropriate for certain age groups. That's why we created the Kid-cast.com Podcast Rating System. By using this Podcast Rating System, we're trying to take it one step further, making it easier to identify who can safely listen to a particular podcast.
All Podcasts prior to February of 2007 are Rated [E]. Please review these ratings prior to selecting a podcast.

"How Do I Upload To Kid-Cast.COM?"
Gee, that's the easy part! But first, you need to create an account.
How can I help you get started? The easiest way for you to upload podcasts to our site is to just create an account on our site. Once you've done that, you do a quick validation of your email address (so that we're sure we're not getting "SPAM" accounts), and then you're ready to upload via our uploading page on the site. Uploading is simple and fast. You only need your podcast/vodcast ready in a format such as MP3 or MOV/MP4 (for vodcasts), so that it can easily be picked up by iTunes; most other playback devices can handle this as well. The upload process only requires that you upload a file (on our specialized form only available to logged in members), and a publish date of your podcast. But you can also include full show notes (which we hope you will, as it's a big help!), and any special instructions for the podcast. You can also upload pictures from this form, as well. Please make notations in the special instructions that the pictures be included with a podcast, if you're doing that. Once you click the upload submit button, you're on your way. We review ALL podcasts individually for content and errors and will contact you directly if there are any issues.
What am I allowed to upload to Kid-Cast.com?
Generally, you can upload almost anything you like, so long as it meets the following simple guidelines:
- It must be material that you own. You may not upload anything that is copyrighted by others when you do not have explicit permission to use it. That means, don't upload songs from bands that haven't given you permission to use their material, and don't send us pictures that aren't openly available for public use. These uploads will be rejected and you will be informed of this situation. You may, of course, re-upload your files at a later time once you have legally obtained permission for the materials. We don't want to be the bad guys, but doing things legally is important to us.
- Podcasts must be at least 1:00 minute in length. You may not upload podcasts with a runtime of less than one minute. Making podcasts last at least that long is pretty easy to do. We've found that most podcasters don't even get past their introductions to their podcast in less than 45 seconds.
- Your podcast MUST be in a format which is universally recognizable by digital playback devices, such as portable digital listening devices (iPod, Zune, multimedia phone, etc.), computers, and iTunes. What This means is that your audio podcast must be in MP3 format, or in .MOV, MP4, or M4V format for video podcasts (for more information on how you can make your files work better with iTunes, please read this specification). If you don't mind your podcast not being made available on iTunes, you may choose other formats for video, such as WMV (Windows Media), or OGG Vorbis for audio. However, our in-line player may not be able to play the materials, either. If you need assistance converting your materials to one of these formats, please use our contact form or special instructions area of the upload form to request assistance - we'd be glad to help!
